Practice Interests

Dr. Cobean has been practicing in Portland since 1992. His practice focus and professional passion is advanced videoscopic surgery and other minimally invasive surgical techniques, including diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. He enjoys offering his patients alternatives to conventional open surgery, avoiding a hospital stay in many cases while achieving similar or better results. He has done over 1200 laparoscopic antireflux operations & hiatal hernia repairs, over 100 Heller myotomies for achalasia and over 500 laparoscopic weight-loss operations. 

Outside Interests

Dr. Cobean is married to an anesthesiologist. They have two school-aged boys. He holds a private pilot license with a seaplane rating and enjoys downhill skiing, sailboarding and playing musical instruments badly when he finds the time.
