Medical Center Bariatric
Surgery Program

 | The Program (Link
to the official website at Maine Medical Center)
This is a cooperative effort by Casco Bay Surgery
and Maine
Medical Center to provide patients with morbid obesity access to advanced
laparoscopic approaches to weight loss (bariatric) surgery. Maine Medical
Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a Level
1a Inpatient Bariatric facility, and our Scarborough Surgery Center is
the only outpatient bariatric surgery center in New England fully accredited
by the ACS (January 2010). We have been
performing Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass since 1999 and
laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAP-BAND) since 2006. We
also use minimally-invasive approaches to revise or reverse old
vertical-banded gastroplasty (VBG) operations. Our surgeons (Renee
Wolff, MD & Roy Cobean, MD) are
experts with laparoscopy, GI endoscopy and minimally-invasive surgical
techniques.
